Find Redmond Homes
Redmond homes, especially those close to Microsoft are in great demand. One such home, listed by Gerhard Ade in 2013, received 18 offers, had eight pre-inspections and sold well over the listing price. As of this writing (2016), homes in Redmond are in even greater demand because the shortage of homes for sale continues to drive up prices.
From Salmonberg to Redmond
Redmond was first named first Salmonberg because of the abundance of salmon in the surrounding rivers. The city was settled by Luce McRedmond after whom it is named today. What put Redmond on the map and into global consciousness and ignited the Redmond homes real estate market was the world’s largest software company. Microsoft Corporation, which moved its headquarters to Redmond in 1986 has some 30,000 full-time workers on its Redmond campus and other eastside locations.
Ethnically diverse and nouveau rich
The nearly 50,000 residents – about 13 percent Asian and 6 percent hispanic – are probably one of the best-educated populations on the planet. The visibilty of exotic cars – 60 percent of the residents are under 45 years old – is just one of the many indicators of wealth minted from the local technology industry. Another indicator are some luxurious Redmond homes.
Plenty of parks and paths for programmers
The largest of the city ’s more than 20 public parks, is Marymoor Park with 560 acre (2.3 km2), one of the King County’s largest and most popular. It is home to several soccer fields, an off-leash dog park, an outdoor theater, and a velodrome. 17 miles of paths for hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding, as well as boating on the Sammamish river offer relief from cubicle stress and carpal tunnel syndrome.
