Sammamish is a young and growing city
Before August 1999, the Sammamish Plateau existed as an unincorporated part of King County through most of its history. In 1991, a vote to join the neighboring city of Issaquah failed. No longer restrained by King County development policies, the City of Sammamish has grown rapidly to today’s population of about 61,000 residents. About 10,000 residents were added when the city annexed the Klahanie neighborhoods in January of 2016.
In many Sammamish homes, you are likely to hear a language other than English. According to the US Census Bureau, in 2015 an estimated 27% of the residents spoke a language other than English.
Median monthly housing costs are about $2,600 and median household income is approaching $150,000.

A good number of them commutes to the Microsoft campus in Redmond from their Sammamish homes. The main thoroughfare is 228th Avenue, which is the address of city hall and two shopping centers to the south and north. The northern end near SE 4th Street is being developed as the Village at Sammamish Town Center. Next to city hall is the Sammamish community center which host events such as the Sammamish Farmers Market.
Sammamish Homes in planned urban developments
Most Sammamish homes are located in planned urban developments with their own community character and shared facilities, such as playgrounds. The Pine Lake community which is located around the lake of the same name. Pine Lake is also home to the city’s annual Concerts in the Park.
Many Sammamish homes enjoy views of the Cascade mountains to the east and the Olympic mountains to the west. The most desirable of these are the homes located right above or on the eastern shore of Lake Sammamish.
