Woodinville Homes
Woodinville homes are known for their large lots, especially if they are located outside the city limits. In fact, there are more Woodinville homes located in unincorporated King County than in Woodinville proper. Woodinville is located in the north central section of King County, east of the intersection of State Route (SR) 522 and Interstate 405 at the north end of the Sammamish river valley. The valley is shaped by steep, wooded slopes where most of Woodinville’s residential development is located. Commercial, industrial and agricultural activities mostly cluster on the valley floor. The community was settled in 1871 by a young couple, Ira and Susan Woodin and their two daughters who used their home as a school house. For the early settlers, the Sammamish River was the most accessible way to reach Woodinville and served as the river highway to Lake Washington and Seattle.
Beyond Woodinville Homes: Woodinville Wines and Woodinville Dines
Today, Woodinville is famous for things that
grow. Although much of Woodinville is “woody,” what tourists come for are the wineries and breweries, what residents stay for are the friendly neighborhoods and the fabulous gardening. Molbak’s is the place to go for horticultural matters and endeavors great and small. Also located in downtown is the Woodinville Plaza with stores for people and pets, with places of food for the famished and food for thought in print and on the big screen.
The Woodinville area covers approximately 20 square miles (6 within city limits) and about 44,000 people (over 11,000 in city limits) that reside in King and Snohomish Counties. The postal zip code for most of it is 98072 and the public schools belong to the Northshore School District.
If you plan to visit, stop by at one of the wineries and stay at the nearby Willows Lodge and enjoy a dinner at the Herbfarm. Tourists and visitors alike can take to the air in a hot air balloon, ride the bike all way to Redmond along the Sammamish river, go berry picking in one of the valley gardens, or just take in the sight of Mount Rainier rising to the south.
